Details

The Lemosho Route is considered one of the most scenic and successful routes for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, offering hikers a more secluded experience with fewer crowds.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha. After a briefing from your guide and the rest of the team, you’ll have time to relax and get ready for the climb.
Your adventure begins with a transfer to Londorossi Gate. After completing registration, you'll hike through the rainforest on a moderate trail. The walk is pleasant, with wildlife sightings and an abundance of tropical plants. After about 4-5 hours, you will reach Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you’ll rest for the night.
Today, the hike will take you from Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp, at an altitude of 3,600 meters. The route is more challenging as you pass through alpine moorland, offering wonderful views of the mountain and surrounding areas. The hike will take approximately 5-7 hours, and upon reaching the camp, you'll rest and begin acclimatizing.
The hike to Shira 2 Camp takes around 3-4 hours. The trail is relatively easy, providing great opportunities to enjoy panoramic views of the mountain and the expansive Shira Plateau. This is an excellent acclimatization day as you climb higher without a significant increase in elevation.
Today’s hike is longer, involving a trek to Lava Tower at 4,630 meters, followed by a descent to Barranco Camp at 3,950 meters. This day is excellent for acclimatization, as it takes you to a high altitude and then allows you to descend. The descent to Barranco Camp provides magnificent views, including the famous Barranco Wall.
The trek from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp is a shorter, yet demanding day. The main highlight is the Barranco Wall, which requires some scrambling to ascend, but it’s an exciting and rewarding challenge. Afterward, you'll continue to Karanga Camp, which offers stunning views of the mountain and surrounding landscapes.
You’ll now ascend to Barafu Camp, located at 4,700 meters. The hike takes around 4-5 hours, passing through more barren terrain. The views are impressive, and once at Barafu Camp, you'll rest and prepare for the summit climb that will begin later that evening.
Around midnight, you’ll begin your climb to the summit. This challenging ascent to Uhuru Peak will take 7-9 hours. Once you reach the summit and take in the awe-inspiring views, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp, where you’ll rest after an exhausting day.
The descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate takes about 3-4 hours. Upon arrival at the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate, and you’ll be transferred back to your hotel to relax and celebrate your accomplishment.
After a well-earned rest, you’ll either head back to the airport for your departure or extend your journey to Zanzibar for a beach holiday. The choice is yours.
